The United States launched a series of airstrikes on Yemen`s Al-Hodeidah Airport on Saturday, escalating tensions in the region.
The attack was confirmed by Houthi-controlled media outlets, with Al-Masirah TV, a major Houthi news channel, calling the strike "American aggression."
According to their reports, the U.S. targeted the airport three times during the attack.
This move follows a week of intense rhetoric from Washington, which had previously announced plans for a significant military operation against Houthi rebels.
The U.S. Central Command, earlier in the week, vowed to continue its "unrelenting campaign" against the Houthis, with President Trump reiterating his commitment to wiping out the rebel group.
Since March 15, U.S. forces have been carrying out airstrikes across Yemen, with reports indicating the deaths of several senior Houthi leaders.
In response, the Houthi Ministry of Health reported that 53 people were killed as a result of the U.S. bombardment.
The roots of this conflict date back to October 2023 when the Houthis began attacking Israeli vessels in the Red Sea in support of Hamas, following Israel`s assault on Gaza.
In retaliation, President Joe Biden ordered attacks against the Houthis.
However, after President Trump took office in January, the offensive against the rebels resumed under his leadership.
As the situation continues to unfold, the escalating violence in Yemen and the involvement of foreign powers raises concerns about further destabilization in the region.
